CODING!!! (but for people who can't)
For the past few years, I have been trying to code. But up to today, I have made barely any progress.
I have tried almost each and every program which allegedly teaches you how to code. And I still stay at only print hello world. (this is very basic coding). There is only 1 coding software which I still use today, and that is scratch. I know that scratch may seem simple at first, but not only can it be simple, but it can be challenging. In fact, there are a lot of scratchers who do know how to code yet still use scratch.
I first learnt scratch when I took a class at code ninja. After the class, I told my friends about scratch and it was the only thing we played for months. I made many games on it, even if the games I made were worse than trash. not only can you make basically any games on scratch, but you can create animations, which is also very popular on the platform. You can always find a new challenge from scratch.
Another important thing to add is that there are people who code on scratch for a living! I already know that I will not take this path in my life, but if you want to I am not stopping you. some of my favorite games which I made are first, a game where you choose something and depending on what you chose, a different ending occurs. I also did a fishing version of this except that the fish you fish up are random. Another favorite of mine is my story game where you make decisions which affect the rest of the game. I also made a whole lot of animations which I really enjoyed. I made one about a murderous banana, another about a broken washing machine.
So as you can probably tell, I really enjoyed scratch and I'm not done yet! I'm sure that most of you who have read this far are interested in starting scratch. Well, it's quite simple. in fact, scratch should have resources to help you guide yourself. Don't forget YouTube!
If you want advice from me, I would suggest first getting inspiration from other scratchers, and then trying to play around with the blocks. See what you can discover! Maybe you can play with the voices to make an animation conversation. Or, you can try and make a simple moving and attacking game. you can even try to decorate the background and characters.
If your jam is praying the games of others, maybe I can give you the right ones to play. Definitely check out the most famous creator griffpatch, and one of my favorite makers called the nick of time. There is a lot more sitting in the back of my mind, like one about a ninja in a platformer.
So to conclude, you should really try scratch, especially if you are like me and can't code. actually, try it if you can code too. it will still be fun. I'm tired and going to bed. Hope you enjoyed and comment if you have ideas to teach me coding.
